The two buildings are set perpendicularly to a TGV line embankment, on either side of a large garden. The project deploys a two and three-floor terraced house typology with patio. The houses are raised for protection from flooding and have individual entrances, direct access to the car park, their own private garden below and a patio above. This configuration is complemented by communal amenities and mutualised services: a large central collective garden, a children’s playground, optimised parking and a caretaker. The distinctive feature of this new urban housing format is its density: 87 units/hectare compared to 14 units /hectare for the neighbouring suburban houses. This hybrid system on an intermediary scale demonstrates that family housing can reinvent living conditions in the city.
